Foundations for Improvising: Module 1

Improvising from scratch. This module is designed for anyone taking their first steps with improvisation. Maybe you are classically trained and have never improvised? Maybe you are just starting out with playing your instrument? Or perhaps you want to take it back to basics and just focus on creating some simple melodic ideas? We will work through the first 5 steps from my "Beginner Jazz Soloing" series of books, which involves some playing by ear and then using my "paint by numbers" approach to create some simple melodic phrases. By the end of this module, you will be improvising your own 2-bar phrases.
